About Me

Ilana Bakal psychotherapist

I am a qualified psychodynamic psychotherapist and counsellor. I was trained at WPF Therapy and hold  MA in Psychodynamic Psychotherapy – Theory and Practice,  from Roehampton University.

My wide experience over 20 years of practice has given me the opportunity to work with a diverse range of people from different cultures, ethnicities, faiths, sexual orientation and from different professional and educational backgrounds.

These years of practice working in private practice, in the voluntary sector and as a therapist in different organisations in the UK and abroad, allowed me to acquaint myself with people who have range of issues like relationships, anxiety, abuse, depression etc. Some of whom needed help to make changes in their lives and career including those who moved countries and struggled with integration, adaptation and relationships.

I specialise and have vast experience in working with people who experienced depression, anxiety, separation, bereavement, loss or trauma – in particular post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).

As a qualified EMDR – Eye, Movement, Desensitization and Reprocessing – therapist, I offer trauma and phobias focused therapy.

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) I am a member of the Foundation for Psychotherapy and Counselling (FPC) and the British Psychoanalytical Council (BPC). I am bound by their codes of ethics.
